A Republican walks into a bar.....
How many conservatives does it take to change a light bulb? None. If the Liberals would just leave it alone it will change itself.
Republicans WILL save the rainforest.... just tell them that is where the 'golf-ball trees' are located.
Some guy told me he was a Republican and that he voted his 'conscience'. I asked him how he could do both.
A good Conservative thinks that 'global warming' is junk science...... but that Creationism should be taught in schools.
A true conservative Republican believes the USA should get out of the UN, but that our highest national priority should be enforcing the UN resolution against Iraq.
Two guys are sitting in a bar talking politics and one asks the other, "Why are you a Democrat?"
"Because my Daddy and Grand Daddy were Democrats."
"Well, what if your Daddy and Grand Daddy were horse thieves?"
" I guess then I would be a Republican," he answered.
A Conservative believes a woman cannot be trusted to make decisions about her own body....... but large multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without any regulation.
A Conservative believes trade with Cuba is wrong, because they are Communists. Trade with China and Vietnam is good market expansion, though.

Song for Tuesday, a day late & a tomorrow early
Moonshadow
Moonshadow
Leapin and hoppin' on a moonshadow
Moonshadow
Moonshadow
And if I ever lose my hands
Lose my plough
Lose my land
Oh if I ever lose my hands
Oh if, I won't have to work no more
And if I ever lose my eyes
If my colours all run dry
Yes if I ever lose my eyes
Oh if, I won't have to cry no more
And if I ever lose my legs
I won't moan, and I won't beg
Yes if I ever lose my legs
Oh if, I won't have to walk no more
And if I ever lose my mouth
All my teethNorth and south
Yes if I ever lose my mouth
Oh if, I won't have to talk
Did it take long to find me?
I asked the faithful light
Did it take long to find me?
And are you gonna stay the night?
I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow
Moonshadow
Moonshadow
Leapin and hoppin' on a moonshadow
Moonshadow
Moonshadow

Come grow old with me...
The Bush administration, Cheney, Rove practiced this to further their agenda. Fear mongers.
It is shameful. And it breaks my heart.
I was young thirty-five years ago. I had successfully kept my ass out of a strange war being waged and popped it in college instead. Not being able to make the football team….I joined the debate team. I remember a hot topic in 1972.
RESOLVED: "That the federal government should provide a program of comprehensive medical care for all its citizens."
Things haven’t changed. Strange war and we are still short of band aids.

I HAVE A POEM!!
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.
(America never was America to me.)
Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed--
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.
(It never was America to me.)
O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.
(There's never been equality for me,
Nor freedom in this "homeland of the free.")
Say, who are you that mumbles in the dark?
And who are you that draws your veil across the stars?
I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery's scars.
I am the red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope
I seek--And finding only the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak.
I am the young man, full of strength and hope,
Tangled in that ancient endless chain
Of profit, power, gain, of grab the land!
Of grab the gold! Of grab the ways of satisfying need!
Of work the men! Of take the pay!
Of owning everything for one's own greed!
I am the farmer, bondsman to the soil.
I am the worker sold to the machine.
I am the Negro, servant to you all.
I am the people, humble, hungry, mean--
Hungry yet today despite the dream.
Beaten yet today--
O, Pioneers!
I am the man who never got ahead,
The poorest worker bartered through the years.
Yet I'm the one who dreamt our basic dream
In the Old World while still a serf of kings,
Who dreamt a dream so strong, so brave, so true,
That even yet its mighty daring sings
In every brick and stone, in every furrow turned
That's made America the land it has become.
O, I'm the man who sailed those early seas
In search of what I meant to be my home--
For I'm the one who left dark Ireland’s shore,
And Poland's plain, and England's grassy lea,
And torn from Black Africa's strand
I cameTo build a "homeland of the free."
The free?
Who said the free? Not me?
Surely not me? The millions on relief today?
The millions shot down when we strike?
The millions who have nothing for our pay?
For all the dreams we've dreamed
And all the songs we've sung
And all the hopes we've held
And all the flags we've hung,
The millions who have nothing for our pay--
Except the dream that's almost dead today.
O, let America be America again--
The land that never has been yet--
And yet must be--the land where every man is free.
The land that's mine--the poor man's, Indian's, Negro's, ME--
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again.
Sure, call me any ugly name you choose--
The steel of freedom does not stain.
From those who live like leeches on the people's lives,
We must take back our land again,
America!
O, yes,I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath--
America will be!
Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death,
The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies,
We, the people, must redeem
The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers.
The mountains and the endless plain--
All, all the stretch of these great green states--
And make America again!

DEATH PANEL !!!!

I would invite the Easter Bunny too......but.....
Now, I have heard Austin is a cool city, that there is good beer and music& such..... but the recent economic times make a road trip to a Third-World Country like Texas a bit unreasonable. And I am pretty sure I had talked him out of that idea
I would e-vite my friend Dorothy, too, but I am pretty sure she is still dead. Anyways..............
The thing of it is.... my son is very serious about his impending career...... what ever that may be. He has been offered a couple of gigs doing sound design for 'indy' short films.... which means...'no money'.
He was going to go to Iowa .... a notion prompted by a small blurb he had read.....The first week of August has been designated as World Breastfeeding Week. The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) encourages Iowans to use this week to increase awareness of the importance of breastfeeding.
http://www.idph.state.ia.us/
But I convinced him that it probably was not a 'flimable' opportunity for a sound design engineer.
Then.... out of the blue ( or green or red or purple) he has an offer to go to
I somehow I get the feeling that when all is said and done.....
